Science in Education: What purpose are we pursuing?

It is time to recognize that our angle of teaching has produced an amazing level of technological achievement (in which we now are forced to deal with the presence of Artificial Intelligence), but is not one which has uplifted our quality of life in a Soulful way. This is so because we come from our relationship to science through an approach that can be termed as Scientific Materialism in which nature is seen only in perspective of how it can serve humanity and that it is ours for the taking. The principles from scientific materialism can be summarized as the following:
—The Universe and all of life has come about by chance.
—Matter is Primary; Mind is Secondary
—We think, feel and imagine as a result of brain cells that have evolved by chance.
—Great Spirit has no place in the conversation.
—Nature is here to serve our needs at no matter the planetary cost.
—Science need have no concern with transcendent power or purpose.
In order for us to reach a state of claiming Transformed Education on a massive scale, we now must call for a view that reconnects us with nature. Thereby, reconnecting us with Soul. Our worldview transforms to something new. It is one which honors:
—an inherent order within all of reality that we see.
—Multidimensional conscious reality, of which we are a part.
—Consciousness that continues on past death.
—Life evolving within and around us.
—Our task becomes the call to live in communion with the web of life, or, to be destroyed with it.
May we choose the view of a Living Conscious Universe of which we are an awakening element. The fundamental shift we must make is from seeing ourselves as separate to seeing ourselves as inherently connected, becoming vividly aware of our participation.
Uniting upon this difference, such a shift transforms our education, our story, our Earth, our Everything . To make this shift happen, we must overcome the inheritance of scientific, cultural and religious beliefs that would barricade us from the Soulful Transformation that beckons through our silent longing. We can now give permission to those quiet private places within the self that remembers and longs for deep connection —reawakening us to our essential relationship with Creator, with one another, and to nature.
In honoring our sacred interconnection, we can become aware of the negative influence that the present value system has held—exploitation, greed, cruelty, and the blind pursuit of power—locking us into the habit of war. What other possibilities might we generate instead? Are we capable of making different choices? Ones that can honor Life and the planet’s health?
The signs of upheaval and breakdown, disintegration of old institutions, are becoming increasingly apparent. Some seek the comfort of “the old ways” and resort to fundamentalism. Others are able to feel and see the tremendous call for evolutionary global awakening—a guiding force that can be tapped into through the inner voice of the Soul. Those are the ones able to invite and midwife in the new call of global consciousness that is being born.
What kind of changes will such a birth of consciousness create? A new way of existing. Connecting into a deep sense of Hope… a Feeling of BELONGING. No longer isolated and alone in the world, a pervasive feeling comes over one when the mind becomes open and receptive, the heart opened and connected to the Truth of our inherent interconnectedness with the Mystery of Life—the unity of the Whole to which we ALL belong.
The way of education is to now tap into this energy… through the power to Inspire!
When we feel the Fire to INSPIRE
the breath that lifts us ever Higher
We become the town Crier
Sing out the Joy
in finding a New Way
